Walter C. Weissinger
Walter C. Weissinger, an accomplished musician and educator, passed away on
December 26, 2025, following a recurrence of cancer.
Born in Columbus, Georgia, on April 22, 1948, Walter was the son of the late Lucille
Pearson Weissinger and Henry (C.H.) Weissinger. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from
Columbus State University.
A gifted pianist and singer, Walter was a staple of the local music community for years.
He was well-known for his sensitive piano accompaniment, lending his talents to
various churches and collaborating with numerous vocalists. His music was not just a
profession, but a gift he shared generously with his community.
Walter’s adventurous spirit eventually led him to China, where he spent a decade as an
English instructor. Upon reaching the mandatory retirement age for the ESL program,
Walter returned to the United States, in Everett, Washington, for his retirement years.
Walter is survived by his brother, Reynold (Jimmy) Weissinger, as well as his nieces,
nephews, and many cousins. He will be laid to rest alongside his parents at Parkwood
Cemetery in Columbus, Georgia.
