Mark Philip Smith
Mark Philip Smith (44) 1981-2025 passed away on December 29, 2025 in Shelton, WA.
Mark was born March 1, 1981 in Yakima, WA to Roger and Christina (Janzen) Smith. He grew up in Selah, WA. He was baptized at Peace Lutheran Church in Selah where he attended as a youth.
Mark worked several different jobs in his lifetime, enjoying different environments, adapting and traveling along his career-filled journey. He took pride in every job he had. Mark loved working for Goodwill and sharing the treasures that came through the store over the years with family. He thought of his co-workers as a second family. He took great pride in how the store was presented to the public.
Mark was a man of few words in life, but he had a heart of boundless love for his family, friends, and co-workers. No matter the hardships in life he was always the first one to take a step forward. He was a hero to many people in life, the definition of a solid foundation, dependable, reliable, brutally honest, patient, and headstrong.
I don’t think I ever saw my father’s foundation crack in my 26 years of life. My father was my personal cheerleader in life always striving for me to do more rather than less. There was never a day where he wasn’t telling me how proud he was of me.
Mark is survived by his sole daughter Paige, step-daughter Abigeail, his mother Christina, Grandmother Marciel Smith, Partner Patience and her children (Willow and Odin), nephews Jayden, Rusty (Laura), and Dylan (Jessica), niece Amber (Jeremy) along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Mark was preceded in death by his father Roger, brothers Jason and Jeromy, niece Miranda, grandson Damon, grandparents Herbert and Terry Janzen and Chester Smith.
A candlelight vigil was held in his memory at Goodwill on January 5, 2026 attended by family, friends and especially the co-workers he loved working with. The love that was felt at this gathering was truly amazing.
Memorials can be sent to the charity of your choice in his name.
