Steven Peter Swartz
Of Lakebay Washington passed away on Saturday March 21st 2026. After a three year battle with cancer. Steve had his wife Barb Swartz (Ryan) and sister Tané Sorensen-Adams, Dennis Shostsman and Bill Sipe by his side as he succumbed to the brutal disease. Although Steve would have chosen to donate his body to science in support of 420 medical research his cancer diagnosis prohibited the donation.
Steve who was an avid fan of all things Motorsports held a history of being a Crew chief and builder for the #7 Whelen series Hobby stock race car (owner Tom Meyer’s) in Corning Iowa during his tenure in Omaha Nebraska. Always working on race cars when he wasn’t enthralled with building and modifying Lego crane techniques kits.
While living in Omaha Steve had the honor of working for and with the Merrill group of companies at APW in Omaha. After working at several Auto Value Parts stores where he grew to hold the highest honor of becoming friends and considered to be family of all his fellow employees, supervisors, owners/managers and customers within the then Specialty Sales/Merrill Corporation.
Steve, being a dedicated supporter of the 420 movement across the nation, is preceded in death by his Mother Paulette Sorensen-Swartz of Oak Harbor Washington. Grand parents Walter and Hazel Farris-Harvey of Grand Island, NE. And Clinton and Eulalie Swartz of Lincoln NE.
Steve is survived by his wife Barb Ryan-Swartz of Lakebay Wa. Daughter and Son in law Bethany and Aaron Kennedy of Midlothian TX. Grandchildren Lilly, Rayden, and Chase Kennedy of Midlothian Tx. Sisters Tané’ Sorensen-Adams (Swartz) of Lakebay Wa. Susan Grayce and Chris Mashburn of Germantown MD. And Robyn (Swartz) and Stan Johnson of Toppenish WA.
And our chosen family of Dewey and Cindy Watters of Lincoln NE, Dennis Shotsman and Family of Waverly NE, David Kingry and Family of Fremont NE. Joel Kugler, Jason Brandis and family, Kelley Bellus, LoAnn Hafits and family, Harry Landis and family, and Gene Heidtbrink all of Omaha NE, and among numerous friends, nephews, nieces, aunts and uncles across the United States.
