Karin Ashton

Karin Jean Ashton, 75 of Clallam Bay, WA  passed away on October 30, 2025  in Bellevue, Washington. She was born on September 6th, 1950 in Bend, OR to Donald and Evelyn Higgins. She graduated from Clallam Bay High School in 1968 and went on to work for the Clallam Bay Corrections Center  for a number of  years. She was a devoted mother and a cherished member of the community that she lived the majority of her life in. Karin passed away, doing what she loved, serving her community. Karin spent her time at the visitor’s center and the volunteer fire department, as well as playing the piano. She enjoyed semiannual trips down to Arizona to visit her kids and “get out of the rain”.  Although Karin wore many hats in her later years, her most important role was being a mom. A dedicated single mother, full of quirks, who despite the struggles,  always had a hot breakfast ready. 

She is survived by her children John Hummel, Tony Ashton and Angel (Andrew) Winter as well as her grandchildren Myah, Harrison and Scarlet. She is also survived by her brothers Donald Patrick Higgins, Robert (Kathy) Higgins, niece Sarah, nephew  Sam, and brother Mark (Beth) Higgins. She  was preceded in death by her parents Evelyn and Donald Higgins, her brother John, and daughter Kezia. 

A service will be held on November 15th  at St. Thomas Catholic Church at 11:00, located in Clallam Bay, WA.

She will be missed by friends, family, and all the lives she touched.
